New Online Poker Bill to be Introduced by Controversial Senator

New Jersey Democratic Senator Robert Menendez intends to introduce a new bill that would regulate online poker and other "games of skill".

The Senate bill's introduction follows a 30-16 vote on Sept. 16 by the House Financial Services Committee that would require federal agencies to define unlawful Internet gambling before completing regulations to enforce a current ban on the activity.

Poker pro Daniel Negreanu was enjoying early success at this year's World Series of Poker European main event. Negreanu was the second biggest chip leader heading into Day 2.

The Canadian - voted one of Gambling911.com Jenny Woo's Top 10 Sexiest Poker Players of 2008 - has total live tournament winnings exceeding $10,400,000, behind Jamie Gold, Joseph Hachem, and Phil Hellmuth and has the most tournament earnings of any individual who has not won the WSOP Main Event.

CAP Poker Tournament Raided by Police in Barcelona

According to numerous reports, an online gambling affiliate convention poker tournament has been shut down by Barcelona police.

Police raided the Hotel Princesa in Barcelona Spain this weekend where the Casino Affiliate Programs (CAP) poker tournament was taking place.  (see news here)

Kentucky Online Gambling Domain Hearing Reconvenes October 7

The Commonwealth of Kentucky will be in court again October 7 to face off against the online gambling industry.

Kentucky received court permission to seize 141 gambling Web sites' domain names as it tries to put them out of business there. Gov. Steve Beshear (D) said at a press conference that the gambling-friendly state is taking "unprecedented action" against sites that "siphon off money from regulated and legal games," such as the state lottery and thoroughbred racing. Kentucky has lost "tens of millions" to unlicensed gambling, he said.
