A year ago, a longer course and windy conditions led to one of the highest scoring weeks in the history of Bay Hill. The weather forecast calls for more favorable conditions this year, and the longer course (it was lengthened to a par 72 two years ago) could play right into the hands of a certain six-time tournament champion. Here’s a look at this week’s best bets.…
Tiger Woods (8/1): Woods may be past his prime, but you can’t ignore his six trophies from Bay Hill. He’s driving the ball better than anyone in the world again, and he looks to be as healthy as he’s been in years. The payout is still quite low for a guy who hasn’t won in a while, but everything adds up to a breakthrough week for Tiger.

Jim Furyk (25/1): Luke Donald bested him in the playoff last week at Copperhead, but Furyk continues to deliver in 2012. He’s fifth on the Tour in adjusted scoring average (69.36) and has finished T9 and T11 at Bay Hill the past two years.
Sergio Garcia (20/1): Garcia has always enjoyed Bay Hill, where he’s gone top-10 six times. He looked sharp at Copperhead last week en route to a T16, finishing fifth in the field in greens in regulation, and enters the week fifth on the Tour in putting (.932 strokes gained).
Ernie Els (40/1): He’s fallen further than Woods has, but if the 42-year-old Els is going to get back on top, this will be the week. A two-time winner at Bay Hill, he was in the running at Copperhead last week, finishing a stroke out of the playoff. But it did give him back-to-back top-25’s for the first time in two years.
