Sam Burns

Sam Burns was flirting with the top of the Masters leaderboard early Sunday as Rory McIlroy tries to hang on for dear life and Cameron Young clings to the lead.

Burns is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He played his college golf at Louisiana State University. He has won five times on the PGA Tour.

Whether he is victorious or not, this will likely be his best showing in a major championship.

This is how he's performed leading up to the 2026 Masters.

Masters Tournament    T29: 2023
PGA Championship    T19: 2025
U.S. Open    T7: 2025
The Open Championship    T31: 2024

Burns entered Sunday one shot behind the leaders, shot 68.

Ahead of the 2026 Masters, Sam Burns was listed with odds around +7000 to +10000 to win. After starting strong and co-leading into Friday, his betting odds shifted to +850 before the second round

“I can’t control anything anyone else does,” Burns said. “I can only control myself, and so that’s kind of what the mentality we took today. Just focus on our process and go out there and compete.”
