Top Republican lawmaker signals GOP openness to pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell ... Prediction Markets Chances Surge

Pollymarket traders are giving U.S. President Donald Trump odds of pardoning convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell a price of +426 or slightly greater than 4/1 (19% chance).
Those odds more than doubled from just a 7% chance just five days ago.
The changes reflect growing GOP support for such a pardon, though members remain split.
Chair Rep. James Comer told Politico that while he did not support it, a “lot of people” believed that a pardon in exchange for Maxwell’s testimony and cooperation with the panel’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein would be a “favorable deal.”
Former Georgia Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene was having none of it. Greene was instrumental in having the Epstein Files released late last year before announcing her resignation.
"I am shocked that some of my former Republican colleagues on the Oversight Committee are supporting pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell. The Epstein survivors are adamantly against her receiving a pardon as she was one of their abusers next to Jeffrey Epstein...."

34% of those trading at Polymarket believe a US and Iran peace deal, and end to the current conflict, could take place by May 31 while the market is split in half for a peace deal to be reached by June 30.
U.S. President Donald Trump has sent special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner will travel to Pakistan soon for talks with Iran's foreign minister, a U.S. official told Reuters on Friday.

These Teams Are Among the Biggest Winners From This Week's NFL Draft

Mel Kiper Jr. sized up the good, the bad and everything in between, leaning on my own Big Board rankings and prospect grades to get a sense of which teams got steals and which teams reached.
The teams he sees as having won big in this year's Draft:
- Las Vegas Raiders - Las Vegas has a pretty good offensive battery with Fernando Mendoza, running back Ashton Jeanty and tight end Brock Bowers, the team's three most recent first-round picks. New coach Klint Kubiak can cap this by finding an impact receiver and/or offensive lineman on Day 2. I'd love to see Washington receiver Denzel Boston go to them at No. 36. The Raiders have nine more picks to keep building. They are now favored to win Over 5.5 regular season games in 2026 at -125.
- Arizona Cardinals - We started hearing some buzz that Arizona might go this way earlier this week. And I know, I'm not supposed to like a running back in the top five. This isn't a running back. Jordon Love is so much more than that -- he's a true all-purpose offensive playmaker who is going to change this offense. He was No. 2 on my board behind Mendoza. They are still favored to win Under 4.5 regular season games in 2026 at -145.
- Cleveland Browns - Everyone talked about how the Browns had to leave Round 1 with an offensive tackle and a wide receiver. But doing that and picking up extra middle-round picks after trading back from No. 6? That's impressive work by general manager Andrew Berry. Once on the clock at No. 9, Cleveland took Spencer Fano, who was my No. 2 offensive tackle and is an extremely versatile lineman. Cleveland is remaking this line, bringing in Tytus Howard, Zion Johnson and Elgton Jenkins. But Fano is going to be the key option. He plays with power and quickness, and he gave up only one sack over the past two seasons. The question now: Will he stay at tackle, or will his 32⅛-inch arms kick him inside? The Browns are favored to win Under 6.5 regular season games in 2026 at -180.
