NFL Football Betting - Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle Seahawks

One of the most bet on NFL games early on, NFL football betting was in full swing with the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle Seahawks despite the lackluster performance of the later team.

Not surprisingly more than 95 percent of that early action was on Philadelphia as the -7 road favorite and this line has since moved down to -6 ½ at BetUS.com

As far as past history goes, it's interesting to point out that the home team in this series has only won 3 of the last 9.  The last 5 dating back to 1998 were all won by the away team.   All but one game was a victory by more than the current spread, three were double digit wins.  The two teams have essentially split wins dating back to 1986.

A notable stat: Seahawks have averaged just five yards per passing attempt and one of the most important trends: Eagles are 8-1 ATS in their last nine on road.

"When you look at this game, it kind of depends on whether you consider Seattle's 34-13 win over San Francisco last week as a "buy" signal," points out Charles Jay, an analyst for BetUS.com.  " I'm not sure I do. Remember, this was a Niner team that was experiencing some meltdown in Mike Singletary's debut, which prompted the inflammatory comments every NFL follower has already seen. And San Francisco was changing signal-callers in the middle of the contest, going from mistake-prone J.T. O'Sullivan to Shawn Hill. Sure, Seneca Wallace threw for 22 yards and two TD's, but he was under 50% accurate going into that game. And Seattle's running game disappeared. Running back Leonard Weaver was the receiving star, catching four passes for 116 yards. Can he do that again? We certainly don't know."

Jay considers Eagles quarterback Donavan McNabb a "bit overrated" but does provide Philadelphia with the edge in this matchup.

"Bryan Westbrook is back in form, having exploded for 167 rushing yards and two TD's last week. We also know that under Andy Reed, the Eagles have always seemingly played better on the road than they have at home, and indeed have covered eight of their last nine games away from the City of Brotherly Love."

Seattle, meanwhile, is completely beaten up.  They are one of a handful of once dominating teams that have been underperforming this season due to injury.

Seattle has often managed to extract a home field advantage; they are 7-2 ATS in their last nine at Qwest Field.
