The best matchup on Wild Card weekend occurs on Saturday night as the San Diego Chargers host the Indianapolis Colts.  Both teams are playing excellent football of late as the Colts have won their last nine games while the Chargers have won their last four. This is the second straight season the teams are meeting in the playoffs as last year the Chargers eliminated the Colts 28-24 at Indianapolis. SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Colts on the Road.

The Chargers are very fortunate to be in the playoffs at all.  No NFL team had ever made the playoffs after starting 4-8 but the Chargers won their final four games while the Denver Broncos collapsed, losing their last three.  San Diego became the first team since 1985 to win a division with a .500 record.

"It's a pretty strange season, ain't it? But it's good to be in this position, no doubt, to say that you're division champs again, to be going to the playoffs and be hosting a playoff game," running back LaDainian Tomlinson said. "That's a great feeling for us."  Tomlinson left last week's win against Denver after straining his groin and might not be at full strength against the Colts.  The good news for San Diego is that they have quarterback Phillip Rivers who was the league's top rated passer with a 105.5 rating.  He tied with Drew Brees for the league lead in touchdown passes with 34. He will be facing an Indianapolis secondary that allowed only six touchdown passes all year.  The Colts will be without linebacker Gary Brackett but should get safety Bob Sanders back in the lineup.

Indianapolis is led by Peyton Manning who threw for over 4,000 yards again this season.  In his last nine games he threw for 17 touchdowns and only three interceptions.  In the last game against San Diego in November, Manning threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns.  Adam Vinatieri hit the game winning field goal to win that game for the Colts.

The last three meetings between the two teams have been decided by a combined total of nine points.  Here are more NFL betting stats for Saturday's game. The Colts are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 playoff games. The Colts are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Colts are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between the two teams but the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.

The Chargers are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games. The Chargers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games.
