Polls show Democrat Senator Barack Obama leading by a pretty hefty margin in the state of Pennsylvania, but Republican Senator John McCain believes he can win that state - so do online betting markets it turns out.
Dave Stanley, spokesperson for Sportsbook.com advised Gambling911.com Thursday evening that McCain was in striking distance of Obama.
"In Pennsylvania 50.09% of the money is on Obama and 49.91% of the cash is on McCain," he informed us.
Online prediction markets have always had an uncanny ability to forecast political outcomes especially as Elections draw near.
Sportsbook.com perhaps more than any other online gambling website provides the best indicator as to how people are betting - and ultimately voting. That site is the biggest US-facing brand online in terms of customer volume.
"We offered state by state betting during the 2004 US election and the results were remarkably accurate," Stanley said.
Sportsbook.com was also offering over/under betting on the number of states each party would win.
