5% Chance Venezuela Becomes 51st state at Polymarket Following Trump Comments

Venezuela ’s acting President Delcy Rodríguez told journalists Monday that her country had no plans to become the 51st U.S. state after President Donald Trump said he was “seriously considering” the move. Rodríguez was speaking at the International Court of Justice in The Hague on the final day of hearings in a dispute between her country and neighboring Guyana over the massive mineral- and oil-rich Essequibo region. “We will continue to defend our integrity, our sovereignty, our independence, our history,” said Rodríguez, who assumed power in January following a U.S. military operation that ousted then-President Nicolás Maduro. Venezuela is “not a colony, but a free country,” she added. Speaking to Fox News earlier on Monday, Trump said he was “seriously considering making Venezuela the 51st US state, The chances of this happening at Polymarket were a mere 5% as of Monday evening.

More than 300 foreign nationals were arrested in a raid on an alleged online gambling operation in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, police said Saturday, in one of the country's largest crackdowns on illegal digital betting networks. The 321 foreigners, mainly from Vietnam, were arrested at a commercial building near the city's Chinatown section that investigators described as a hub for more than 70 online gambling websites, targeting players outside Indonesia, based on marketing records and digital evidence collected during the raid.

Liverpool are showing interest in AS Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche, according to L'Equipe. The 24-year-old is being considered as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah, who will leave the club as a free agent this summer. Liverpool have not been deterred by Monaco's demands for a €50 million fee to sign the right winger, but other teams in the Premier League as well as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) appear heavily interested as well. Akliouche has six goals and seven assists to his name in Ligue 1 this campaign.
