Mike Florio of ESPN reported Sunday morning that Pittsburgh Steelers troubled quarterback Ben Roethlisberger hired bodyguards after having a gun pointed at his head.

The gun was pulled by the boyfriend of a girl to whom Roethlisberger was talking outside a bar, according to one of the bodyguards speaking during a segment on 60 Minutes.

The turmoil has also spilled into the Steelers locker room it seems.

Several teammates questioned Roethlisberger's leadership in recent years despite to Super Bowl wins.

Former Steelers RB Najeh Davenport said as much as 60% of the locker room felt the quarterback thought he was bigger the team while questioning his dedication and focus, according to the ESPN report.

"I think that cleared a lot of the air, let the gas out, everyone was like, 'Ahhhhhh, we can breathe now, with it not being so tense now,'" former Steelers player Mike Logan says. "I think it might've opened Ben's eyes a little, just to say, 'Hey, if I am a little more friendly to these guys, if I am a little more open, maybe I'll gain their respect.'"

Roethlisberger has been tied to at least two complaints lodged by separate women in recent months.

He is suspended for 6 games of the 2010 regular NFL season.

The Steelers were currently a +1000 long shot to win the Super Bowl at Sportsbook.com.
