The World Series of Poker (WSOP) removed its eight-part docuseries "NO LIMIT" from YouTube last week after the production company admitted to using AI to fabricate quotes from a featured player, Alan Keating.

NO LIMIT was an eight-part documentary series filmed at the inaugural World Series of Poker Paradise (WSOPP) in the Bahamas and features more than 650 hours of behind-the-scenes footage condensed into 30-minute episodes.

The documentary premiered on YouTube November 4 and is still running.

The show was funded by GGPoker, new owners of the WSOP, but was the brainchild of Dustin Iannotti.

Ianotti, in now-deleted tweets, admitted that the quotes attributed to Alan Keating were actually generated using artificial intelligence to imitate Keating's voice, based on themes Keating had touched on in an interview. Ianotti claims he was not informed of this prior to the episodes being released.

Poker pro Jennifer Tilly expressed disgust over the tactic via her own Twitter feed.

"Wow. Just wow. I don’t even like being misquoted. I can’t imagine what it would be like for somebody to use my voice to put words in my mouth in a “documentary”. This is so egregious on so many levels."

The poker community's reaction - not to mention the potential for legal ramifications - seems to have prompted the move to pull the plug on the docuseries.

Poker pro Hayley Hannah provided a similar sentiment to that of Tilly.

"It really is crazy. When I first read the post I thought it was a misquote or using a said sentence at a different time with different context.. but using an actual AI generated fake sentence is wild and a bit scary!"

Those AI fears are starting to come to light it appears.
