Arguably the biggest name of those suspended last summer for violating the NFL gambling policy will be allowed to play again after being reinstated by the league on Tuesday.

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, 26, is cleared to participate in team activities, effective immediately.

The Eagles signed Rodgers in August 2023, two months after the Indianapolis Colts waived him following the gambling allegations.

The Colts issued this statement immediately after learning of the infraction involving Rodgers and two other players, Rashod Berry and  defensive tackle Demetrius Taylor.

“We have made the following roster moves as a consequence of the determination that these players violated the league’s gambling policy,” Colts general manager Chris Ballard said in a statement. “The integrity of the game is of the utmost importance. As an organization we will continue to educate our players, coaches, and staff on the policies in place and the significant consequences that may occur with violations.”

Rodgers was accused of opening a sportsbook account under the name of a personal associate and placing wagers on his own team.

At least 12 players have been suspended for violating the league gambling policy.

Players are prohibited from wagering on NFL events. Its 2023 gambling policy states that players can never place, solicit or facilitate a bet — either directly or through a third party — on “any NFL game, practice, or other event, such as the Combine or Draft.”
