Bitcoin + Daily Fantasy Sports contests could amount to big bucks.  Try $5 billion.

Fantasy Sports has always seemed like a promising area for Bitcoin acceptance, suggests Kenny Spotz of the CoinTelegraph.com.

He adds that "fantasy sports would benefit greatly from the ability to send money without being subject to PayPal fees or worries about credit card fraud.”

This makes perfect sense with Fantasy Sports likely to follow a similar trend as online gambling, which over the past year has gradually begun to embrace the anonymous digital currency.

The new site Victiv.com just raised $2.7 million in seed funding to become one of the first and only Bitcoin Fantasy Sports sites, though the site is not restricted to just Bitcoin transactions.

Victiv.com CEO Matt Primeaux told the CoinTelegraph: “We believe that daily fantasy sports currently sits on an inflection point that will propel the popularity of this niche industry, and could see much more than US$5 billion in contests played annually.

“Our goal at Victiv.com is to provide a better, more engaging daily fantasy sports product. Everything we do — from the 15-person team we have here in Austin, TX to the technology stack that we’re working with — is geared towards building the best experience for our users.”

At Victiv, you can play all of the major fantasy sports leagues: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA and, in addition to Bitcoin, deposit using all major debit and credit cards, including VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

It is likely we will see the Bitcoin-Fantasy Sports marriage blossom as both concepts gain increased acceptance in the coming months.
