This NHL betting preview is being brought to you by SBG Global, which has odds on the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New Jersey Devils.  The SBG Global Opening Line: Devils  - 140 , Total 5.5 Under -130

The New Jersey Devils will have to stay in the playoff race without their future Hall of Fame goaltender.  Martin Brodeur is expected to miss the next three or four months and without him the Devils might be in serious trouble.

New Jersey has made the playoffs the past 11 years but without Brodeur that streak will be tested.  The Devils have won 323 games with Brodeur in goal and lost only 165 times in regulation with him.  On the rare occasions he has not played they are 26-24-8 with three ties. "It's shocking because you expect my knee is going to go or my groin or my thumb, something I use as a goalie," Brodeur said, "I didn't expect my biceps could be a big factor in an injury. It was a freak accident. That's why I am shocked about the injury. That's not something I expected to hurt." SBG Global reports that early Hockey betting has the public taking  Devils at Home.

New Jersey will turn to 11 year veteran Kevin Weekes to hold the fort. "I think it's a great opportunity for him to go out and prove himself to be the top goalie," Brodeur said, "He is going to play in front of a great team like I did for a lot of years and, hopefully, he will do well for us and hold the fort until I come back."  Weekes should get a test from a Tampa Bay team that has won three in a row.  It is the first of a five-game road trip for the Lightning.

Last year the Devils won three of four against Tampa Bay including both games at home. The Lightning are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. the Eastern Conference. The Lightning are 4-1 in their last 5 overall. The Lightning are 15-36 in their last 51 road games. The Lightning are 7-19 in their last 26 vs. the Atlantic. The Lightning are 0-7 in their last 7 Wednesday games. The Lightning are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in New Jersey.

The Devils are 19-7 in their last 26 vs. the Southeast. The Devils are 83-39-7 in their last 129 Wednesday games. The Devils are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. the Eastern Conference. The Devils are 1-4 in their last 5 overall.

SBG Global Current Line: Devils  - 140 , Total 5.5 Under -130

The Under is 5-1 in Tampa Bay's last 6 overall. The Under is 4-1 in Tampa Bay's last 5 road games. The Under is 13-5-1 in Tampa Bay's last 19 vs. the Atlantic. The Under is 7-3 in Tampa Bay's last 10 vs. the Eastern Conference. The Over is 19-9-1 in Tampa Bay's last 29 Wednesday games.

The Under is 5-2 in the Devils last 7 vs. the Southeast. The Over is 7-3-2 in the Devils last 12 home games. The Under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings. The Over is 5-2-3 in the last 10 meetings in New Jersey between the two teams.
