Washington Redskins vs. Detroit Lions Odds: Lions Finally Win One?

If past history is any indication, the Washington Redskins vs. Detroit Lions odds could actually favor the Lions.

This one opened at Washington -6 ½ as the road favorite and has since climbed to -9 at some places. The problem: The home team has won 9 of the last 10 dating all the way back to 1992 in this series. In 2004, the Redskins won by 7 points in Detroit but that is still under the -7 ½ line that most books including SBG Global have this one at.

Ugggh...the idea of betting on Detroit is just way too enticing here considering they are 0-6 and so desperate for a win. Their last two games on the road were lost within 2 and 7 points, respectively.

Even trends seem to indicate Detroit can win - at least Against The Spread.

The Redskins are 1-6 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

That is not to say the trends are all good in the Lions favor. Detroit is 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a ATS win. Let's face it, most of their stats simply are not very good no matter how you look at things.

Dan Pieringer, STATS Writer:

One of the Washington Redskins' stars felt his team played down to its opposition when it was upset by a previously winless team two weeks ago.

After overcoming a bad first half to survive another close call last week, they'll try to return to form by taking advantage of another of the NFL's worst teams.

The Redskins look to improve to 6-2 for the first time in eight years when they visit the winless Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Washington rebounded with a 14-11 victory over Cleveland last Sunday despite being held without a point in the first half, their first scoreless half since the season opener. The Redskins defense kept them in the game, as Washington held the Browns to 236 yards and forced eight punts.

"Somebody's got to do the dirty work," said defensive tackle Kedric Golston, who batted away one of five passes deflected at the line of scrimmage. "And we take just as much pride in doing the dirty work as we do making the play."

Well, anyway, Gambling911.com is going to have to jump on Detroit. They are +7 ½ underdogs at SBG Global
