Devil May Care - The only filly who ran well in the mud at Churchill Downs on Monday. Part of Todd Pletcher's four-horse"Todd Squad," Rider John Velazquez was originally scheduled to ride early favorite Eskendereya, who was pulled out due to injury. Devil May Care came in with +800 odds, which would pay out $80 for every $10 bet.
Lookin' At Lucky - He's the favorite but one that pays out pretty good should he win at +400 or 4/1. The payout would be $40 for every $10 bet. The muddy track will be a concern however. Nobody can argue that Lookin' At Lucky is among the top 2010 Kentucky Derby contenders.
Super Saver - ESPN.com is reporting that Super Saver is among the bettors top choice early on.
Advance wagering into the 136th Kentucky Derby suggests the race could produce the longest-priced favorite in Derby history, with Super Saver being the 7-1 choice after $340,544 was bet into the win pool Friday. Only one other Derby starter, Lookin At Lucky at 9-1, was less than double digits.
Super Saver would pay much better at Sportsbook.com: $120 for every $10 bet.
American Lion - At +2000, he would pay out $200 for every $10 bet. He looked smooth this week and was able to run the wet track.
Paddy O'Prado - This is the 2010 Kentucky Derby contender that everyone here at Gambling911.com seems to be slobbering over. He is capable of running in the mud. More importantly, Paddy was looking mighty impressive this week.
Mission Impazible - Another good mud horse that seems to be peaking at the perfect time. Pays $150 for every $10 bet.
Discreetly Mine - I consider him among the 2010 Kentucky Derby contenders and he's capable of running in the muck.
ESPN.com's David Grening points out that Discreetly Mine is out of the mare Pretty Discreet, who in 1995 won the Grade 1 Alabama at 1 1/4 miles by eight lengths over a sloppy Saratoga main track.
Trainer Todd Pletcher has four horses in this year's Derby, for which Discreetly Mine is the least talked about. During a press conference, Pletcher explained that he felt the horse's chances in the Louisiana Derby were compromised by a workout in which "he galloped out way too far and way too fast," six days before the race.
At Churchill Downs, Pletcher has been happy with Discreetly Mine's training, according to ESPN.
"I like his energy level, I like the way he's moving, just his general attitude's good right now," Pletcher said.
Another good reason to consider Discreetly Mine, the payout: $300 for every $10 bet at Sportsbook.com.
Sidney's Candy - He is really a neck and neck favorite with Lookin' At Lucky and at some online sportsbooks, his odds of winning the 2010 Kentucky Derby are even shorter. I'm on the fence as to how well he will perform in all that mud however. Sportsbook.com had some of the best payout odds on Sidney's Candy: $60 for every $10 bet.
