Make no mistake about it, the books do not want Scottie Scheffler to win this year's Open Championship. He came into this week's play as the +420 favorite, paying out $420 for every $100 bet should he go onto win. By the end of the day Friday, Scheffler sat atop the leaderboard and will be among the biggest liabilities at sportsbooks across the globe should he go on to be victorious. By Sunday he appeared well on his way to yet another victory.

Scheffler took the solo lead Friday afternoon posting a 64 on Friday in the second round of the British Open. He's remained atop the leaderboard ever since and well into Sunday afternoon's final round.
He's now the first No. 1 golfer to lead the Britisih Open at the midway point since Tiger Woods did so in 2006. Woods won the Claret Jug that year, something that Scheffler has yet to do.
The cut was projected to be at 1-over for the week as of Friday, which has left several notable names on the outside. Collin Morikawa, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Patrick Cantlay and Joaquin Niemann were all set to miss the weekend.
World number one Scheffler shot 199 across the first three rounds at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland, to hold a commanding four-shot lead going into the final round on Sunday.
