• William Hill on the Hook After Glitch Sparks Multiple Massive Jackpot Payouts - Players were credited with six figure payouts and were then asked to refund the wins after William Hill claimed a software glitch in one of its slot-style games awarded huge jackpots in error.  Multiple players of the Jackpot Drop game are understood to have received the erroneous payouts, with several posting online that they amounted to six-figure sums.
   
• Kalshi and Polymarket Rush to Ban Insider Trading as Senators Move to Curb Prediction Markets - Kalshi said it would ban political candidates from trading on their own campaigns, and it would preemptively block anyone involved in college or professional sports from trading contracts related to the sports they play or are employed by. Polymarket instituted a broader ban than Kalshi. The company rewrote its rules to say clearly that users cannot trade on contracts where they might possess confidential information or could influence the outcome of an event. Headlines: US Senators Introduce Legislation That Would Ban Sports Betting on Prediction Market Apps

• DraftKings and Flutter Rally on Bill to Ban Sports Betting Through Prediction Markets - Gambling stocks all traded higher Monday morning as U.S. senators introduced a bill banning sports bets through prediction markets.  Flutter, the parent company of U.S. sports betting firm FanDuel, was up 5.0% while DraftKings was up 2.3%. The stocks are down 50% and 32%, respectively, so far this year, as investors worry that surging prediction markets could eat into the apps’ dominant share of the sports betting marketplace.
   
• US Lawmakers Move to Ban Sports Betting on Prediction Markets - A pair of senators are introducing a law that would prohibit CFTC-regulated entities like Kalshi and Polymarket from listing contracts related to sporting events.
   
• Kentucky Gambling Age to Go Up to 21 From 18 - A Kentucky House committee has approved HB 904, a bill that would raise the gambling age to 21, tax daily fantasy sports, and ban collegiate prop bets.

• Trump Says Iran and US Both 'Want to Make a Deal' and Says They'll Talk Today - With more than $20,000 in trading volume at Kalshi, nearly a quarter of those trading believe a ceasefire in the US-Iran conflict could come as early as March 31.  This comes after US President Donald Trump says the US and Iran have held talks on the "complete and total resolution of hostilities" in the Middle East.  He says he will "postpone any and all strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure" for a five day period.
   
• Dow Jumps 1,100 points After Trump Says U.S. and Iran Have Held ‘Productive’ Talks - The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1,117 points, or 2.4%. The S&P 500 rose 2.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 2.4%. Before Trump’s comments, which he posted on Truth Social on Monday morning.  Prior to that post, Polymarket traders were only giving the Dow a 16% chance of being up on Monday compared to greater than 90% after Trump's Truth Social post.

• New Prediction Market Investment Fund Coming From Early Employees of Kalshi - Investors are believing that prediction markets could ultimately become bigger than sportsbooks.  These early employees are looking to raise $35 million. The fund's partners are Adhi Rajaprabhakaran, a former early trader at a Kalshi-affiliated market maker, and Noah Zingler-Sternig, former head of operations at Kalshi. Confirmed investors include Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour, Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan, Marc Andreessen (through Moneta Luna), Ribbit Capital founder Micky Malka, and former Multicoin Capital managing partner Kyle Samani. The fund plans to invest in approximately 20 companies over the next two years, covering infrastructure areas such as prediction market makers and index design. (source: Fortune) 
   
• Lawmakers to Introduce Bipartisan Bill Banning Sports Bets on Prediction Markets - A pair of senators are introducing a law that would prohibit CFTC-regulated entities like Kalshi and Polymarket from listing contracts related to sporting events. (source WSJ) 
   
• Kalshi Exits Nevada While New Lawsuit Goes After Company Founders - The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) announced that the state had issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) on Friday. In a press release, Chairman Mike Dreitzer stated, “Kalshi has repeatedly stated that its operations are legal in 50 states, which is clearly not true.” “Prediction markets, to the extent they facilitate unlicensed gambling, are illegal in Nevada, and we have a statutory duty to protect the public. We want people in the state to wager safely at a licensed book.”  According to court filings, Judge Jason D. Woodbury concluded that Kalshi is not licensed under the Nevada Gaming Control Act and, because the company takes a commission on contract trades, its model fits the state’s definition of a “percentage game.” That designation is pivotal: in Nevada, percentage games are gambling, which triggers licensure and strict age limits.

Price of Oil, Price of Gas: Traders See $4.25 By Month's End

With only a week and a few days left in the month of March, gamblers overwhelmingly believe the price of crude oil will mostly remain stable. 

76% of those trading at Polymarket have the price of crude oil sitting at $100. 

The current price of WTI crude (U.S. benchmark): was sitting at about $98–$99 per barrel.

There had been a sharp, but brief, spike upwards of $120 since the start of the war.  That's also the highest price we've seen since 2022. 

11% of traders have the price hitting $130 by March 31. 

As far as the average price of gas in the United States by the end of this month, 94% of Polymarket believe the price will hit the $4 mark.  That is almost a given considering the current trend and no let down in US-Israel-Iran conflict anticipated any time soon.  The current national gas price average was $3.94. 

Nearly half of traders (47%) believe the price will hit $4.25 on March 31.

Poker Pro Breaks Down Search Warrant Used in The Lodge Card Room Raid as Co-Owner Doug Polk Welcomes New Daughter

Over the weekend, poker pro and industry analyst Todd Witteles summarized the warrant for search and seizure of The Lodge Card Club in Round Rock, TX after obtaining a copy in recent days.  He seems to have mostly an optimistic take on the matter based on his own interpretation of what is contained in the warrant. 

As a quick refresher, The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) conducted a raid on the business on Tuesday March 10.   The poker room was shuttered - at least temporarily - that morning.  It has since come to light that the probe involves alleged money laundering whereas internet sleuths early  on suggested this may have had to do with the establishment failing to renew its liquor license.  We now know this goes much deeper.   In fact, we have since learned that the alcohol license was still active at the time of the raid.

In addition to high profile poker pro and podcaster Doug Polk, The Lodge is co-owned by Jake Abdalla, and Jason Levin.

• (Prediction Markets) - MLB Signs Multi-Year Prediction Market Deal With Polymarket - Major League Baseball is entering the prediction-market arena, announcing a multi-year partnership that designates Polymarket as the league's official prediction market exchange and includes a new integrity-focused agreement with federal regulators.  Financial terms were not released, but Polymarket is believed to pay MLB around $300 million over three years as part of the agreement, with the per-year amount potentially closer to $150 million, according to Front Office Sports.
   
• (Gambling Crime) - Guardians Pitchers Emmanuel Clase, Luis Ortiz No Longer Getting Paid as They Await Gambling Trial - The relievers were originally placed on paid non-disciplinary leave when they were first investigated over the summer for allegedly violating the league's gambling policy. "This agreement is not an admission of any wrongdoing by Clase or Ortiz. MLB has been closely monitoring the matter since alerting federal law enforcement at the outset of its investigation and will have no further comment until its investigation has been completed," MLB said, adding the shift came through an agreement between the league and the players' association.

South Carolina Man Arrested for Operating Illegal Gambling Parlor From His Home (Viral)

Gambling911.com on Sunday reported on an individual arrested and charged for allegedly running an illegal gambling parlor from his South Carolina home and that story immediately went viral. 

"Gambling911.com is at the forefront of all gambling stories involving crime," remarked Gambling911.com Senior Editor Payton O'Brien.  

That's exactly what happened with this story. 

Walter Limann Hicks Sr., a 51-year-old Gaston resident, was taken into custody on March 3 and charged with unlawful possession/operation of a slot, video, vending machine or gambling device as well as a count of unlawful games and betting.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) only announced the arrest on Friday during a news conference. 

During a search of Hicks’ home, 18 illegal gambling machines were seized, arrest warrants show.

From Bookmaker Review: 

This was the most frightening experience I’ve ever had with a bookmaker, and people need to be aware of what can happen here.

I placed various live bets across different sports (NCAA, Tennis, Soccer etc.), including standard wagers and live bets and went on a run of about 9 or 10 in a row. Then out of nowhere, betnow hit my account with a manual adjustment of -$10,159.23, wiping out over $10k in winnings and pending bets.

Their excuse? “Past-posting.”
This is completely absurd. Their platform has a built-in delay/timer, and on top of that, it would be impossible for every bet to be a past-post. This was merely an excuse not to pay.

When I contacted support, this is what I got:

   Them: “Live Betting and Prop Builder have been deactivated due to detected fraudulent activity related to past-posting.”
   Me: “What?”
   Them: “Decision is final.”
   Me: “These are all different sports and wagers.”
   Them: “Determined by risk analysis department.”
   Me: “There’s a 10 second timer, and some weren’t even live bets.”
   Them: “Decision is final. Upper management decision.”
   Me: “This is theft. I’ll be posting about this.”
   Them: “Adjustment stands.”

That’s it. No explanation, no evidence, no breakdown of which bets were supposedly “fraudulent.” Just repeated stonewalling and shutting down the conversation.

They let the bets go through, graded them as wins, and then confiscated everything after the fact under a blanket accusation that doesn’t even hold up.

Be very careful:

   Over $10,000 removed without proof
   Winning bets reversed after settlement
   Accused of something that’s prevented by their own system
   Support gives copy-paste answers and shuts you down
   No real dispute process

This felt like outright confiscation of legitimate winnings. If this can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.

Kevin Clifton Bookie's Favorite to Return to the Strictly professional line up

As Strictly Come Dancing undergoes a major shake-up ahead of the new series, bookmakers Betway are tipping fan favourite Kevin Clifton for a comeback – with odds of 3/1.

Kevin won Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 when he lifted the Glitterball trophy with his now-partner Stacey Dooley.

Other names tipped for a possible return include Joanne Clifton at 7/1, Oti Mabuse at 8/1 and Ian Waite at 9/1.

Bookies yanked odds on two new replacement hosts following a "flurry of betting" activity over the weekend. 

Rylan Clark, 37, is now regarded as such a favourite to secure the role that Ladbrokes have ceased accepting bets - with his odds tumbling from 4-1 to 1-2 - indicating he is an almost guaranteed replacement.  

Betting coverage related to Strictly Come Dancing has resulted in around 40% of the traffic to the Gambling911.com website coming from Europe, primarily the UK, but other countries as well.
