Winklevoss Twins Reportedly Halted Brian Quintenz CFTC Nomination

Cryptocurrency billionaires Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss pressed President Donald Trump this past weekend to reconsider his nominee to lead a small but powerful Wall Street regulator that helps oversee the $4 trillion market, according to people familiar with the matter.

As senators prepared on Monday for a vote to advance Brian Quintenz’s nomination to head the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Facebook-famous billionaires, who now run the crypto company Gemini, reached out to Trump directly with concerns about Quintenz, said the people, who were granted anonymity to discuss the private conversation.

They reportedly encouraged Trump to reconsider his pick, pointing to Quintenz’s recent testimony suggesting he would support expanding the CFTC’s budget to account for new responsibilities in crypto regulation.

“Brian Quintenz remains President Trump’s nominee to serve as chairman of the CFTC,” White House spokesperson Liz Huston said in a statement. “He will help execute President Trump’s mission of making America the crypto capital of the world and we look forward to his swift confirmation.” (source: Politico)

Former NBA Star Gilbert Arenas Charged With Running Illegal Poker Games: Mocks Arrest

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas was arrested Wednesday along with five other people, including a suspected member of an Israeli organized crime group, on suspicion of hosting illegal high-stakes poker games at a Los Angeles mansion owned by Arenas, federal prosecutors said.

All six defendants are charged with one count of conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling business and one count of operating an illegal gambling business, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. They are all scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon.

Arenas, 43, is also charged with making false statements to federal investigators, the statement said. He is named in the indictment as ”Agent Zero," a nickname from his playing days with the Washington Wizards.

Arenas pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released on a $50,000 bond after appearing in court on Wednesday afternoon.

In one video posted on X and Instagram, Arenas was seen leaving a police department, dancing down the stairs and saying "they can't hold me" while a woman behind the camera shouted: "Free!"

The caption read: "Im Back on the Streets. This aint got shyt to do with me ' just rented the house' Wasnt apart".
