The map below, courtesy of BetOnline, is based on geotagged X data in the last week, tracking tweets, hashtags and direct keyword phrases about who will be "boycotting" the Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show.
For example, the study tracked tweets such as "Boycott the halftime show," "Boycott Bad Bunny," "I'm boycotting the Super Bowl," "I won't be watching the halftime show," "I'll watch the Turning Point USA Halftime show," "I'll watch the Kid Rock halftime show," #BoycottHalftime, #BoycottBadBunny, #SuperBowlOut, #AllAmericanHalftimeShow, etc.
More than 170,000 tweets were tracked in total.
As you can see from the map, the most "boycott halftime" activity is coming from the Midwest and southern states. However, the Utah takes the top spot with the most negative sentiment overall.
Here are the Top 10 states:
Utah - 8,432
Kentucky - 7,431
Alabama - 7,206
Georgia - 6,973
Louisiana - 6,588
West Virginia - 6,241
Montana - 5,997
Mississippi - 5,763
Nebraska - 5,448
Indiana - 5,233

So why the big uproar over the halftime show this year? There are a couple reasons:
- Some fans believe the NFL is trying to cater specifically to the Hispanic audience, as opposed to booking someone that is more "general."
- Bad Bunny has caused controversy amongst certain sections of the population by stating he may pay homage to the LGBTQ community through actions like wearing a dress while performing.
- There is the obvious political factor, and Bad Bunny would definitely not be the choice of many conservative fans.
- Turning Point USA is putting on an alternative halftime show, called "The All-American Halftime Show," headlined by Kid Rock.
