An online poker room, which just two weeks ago claimed to be on fire, has closed its doors.

Duplicate Poker has shut down Sunday. The reason: A troubled world economy, or so they say.

The site had this to offer its customers following their decision to close:

Duplicate is sadly bidding farewell to its players. Caught in the middle of the global financial situation the company is not able to continue to provide service. We are a small victim of the global financial crisis.

Regretfully as of the today, October 5th, 2008 we are closing our service. We thank our players for being with us. Hopefully at later time and in a better economic climate Duplicate Poker will re-appear.

Sincerely,

The Duplicate Poker Team

It was just two weeks ago that DuplicatePoker.com claimed it was a thriving online poker room operating from - of all places - New York City. In fact, they announced their milestone 250,000th player.

"DuplicatePoker.com has quickly gained global appeal and poker players at all levels are playing this new game and developing new strategies for winning," says Pinhas Romik, founder and CEO of Duplicate Poker. "Our revenues have increased six-fold since the public launch and we expect the game's popularity to continue its upward trajectory."

So what happened between then and now?

Lord only knows but once again Gambling911.com advises - STICK TO THE TRIED AND TRUE....check out our online poker rooms listing.
