Ohio State Buckeyes Bookies Celebrate Loss to Oklahoma

With more than 70 percent of the betting action coming in on Ohio State Saturday, regional bookies in particular were in celebration mode.

Bookmakers, especially in and around Ohio, have taken a significant number of future bets on the Buckeyes to win the College Football Championship.  Saturday’s loss will make that task much more difficult.

The Sooners beat Ohio State on the road 31-16, avenging the Buckeyes’ 45-24 win in Norman last year.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield threw for 386 yards and three touchdowns Saturday.

“We never got down, even with the ebbs and flows of the game,” Sooners first-year head coach Lincoln Riley said. “We just stayed in it. We competed at a high, high level. We expected to win this game.”
