It is pretty simple for the New York Jets on Sunday night.  Win and they make the playoffs, lose and they are out.  A few other teams will be interested in the outcome of this game because if the Jets lose another team is going to get in.  The problem for all of those other hopefuls is that the Jets are at home and the Bengals may rest some of their starters.  It is also very possible that if the Jets win, the teams would meet next week in the Wild Card round at Cincinnati.

The Jets gained control of their playoff destiny last week thanks to a win over the previously unbeaten Indianapolis Colts.  The Colts decided to pull their starters in the third quarter and the Jets came from behind to win.  "They don't have to apologize about anything, and neither do we," New York head coach Rex Ryan said. "Every team wants to be in the situation where you control your own destiny. But to have the opportunity to actually play the last game of the season, the last regular-season game, with everything riding on it in front of your fans, I think most teams would take that, sign up for that opportunity. If we win the game, we're the fifth seed. If we don't, we're out. That's the math that I can figure out."

This will be the last NFL betting game at Giants Stadium unless the Jets happen to host the AFC Championship which is unlikely.  Last week the New York Giants played their home finale and stunk the place up losing to the Carolina Panthers. The Jets will try and close the stadium out in much better fashion on Sunday night in a game that can be seen on NBC. The key for New York will be avoiding mistakes. The Jets are 4-2 when quarterback Mark Sanchez does not throw an interception. That should mean they run the ball with Thomas Jones on Sunday night and play defense. Their defense leads the league in scoring defense at 15.7 points per game. They may not get challenged much by a Cincinnati team that doesn't have much to play for. The Bengals could be playing for a three seed instead of a four seed but it is not that big a deal in the playoffs.

Some important Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets odds trends and stats to consider prior to betting on this game:  The Bengals have never won at Giants Stadium against the Jets going 0-7.  Here are more NFL betting stats for Sunday's game. The Under is 4-1 in the Bengals last 5 games overall. The Under is 4-1-1 in the Jets last 6 games overall.
