2017 NFL: The Next QB for Cleveland Browns Odds

The Cleveland Browns are almost assuredly going to look for a QB in the NFL Draft this season. The odds are out, meaning that it may be necessary for price per head agents to utilize per head tools to manage wagering.

QBs To Be The Next Browns

Robert Griffin III, Josh McCown, Cody Kessler +500

Tim Tebow, +3300

Johnny Manziel, +5000

Field, -200

Based on the above, the obvious choice is the Field at -200. There won’t be a lot of pro players jumping on the field at those odds. Casual players are likely to just because casual players love to go chalky.

There are three big time college football quarterbacks to choose from:  DeShone Kizer at Notre Dame, Deshaun Watson at Clemson, and Mitch Trubisky at North Carolina.

None of those players are better than Cody Kessler, who started a couple of games as a rookie for the Cleveland Browns this season.

The real question is whether Cleveland wants to spend $23.4M on Washington free agent QB Kirk Cousins. Cousins is the only free agent quarterback in 2017 worth mentioning.

The rest, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum, E.J. Manuel, etc., aren’t any better than RGIII, Josh McCown or Cody Kessler.

Time Tebow at +3300 is a joke. Although RGIII is injury prone, he’s a real NFL QB. Tebow isn’t. Manziel at +5000 is an even bigger joke.

Price per head agents should set max betting limits, just in case, but neither Tebow nor Manziel figure to demand action anyhow.

Cleveland is utilizing the MoneyBall System developed in MLB to decide who stays with the team.

The truth about Cleveland is that they are only 2 to 3 players away from winning 6 to 7 games in a season. They might even challenge for a playoff spot if they can get the right 2 to 3 players.

It’s hard to imagine that the Browns, given their philosophy, will draft a rookie QB with the number one pick or go after Cousins.
