Coming into the 2010 Major League Baseball regular season, both the Texas Rangers and the San Francisco Giants odds to win this year’s World Series were set at 30/1 with a payout potential of $3000 for every $100 bet.

Odds of winning the World Series still had good value for both Texas and San Francisco last month.  Texas had odds of 9/1 while San Francisco came in at 11/1.

The Giants, who just barely made it into the Playoffs, solidified their World Series entry with 3-2 win against the Phillies Saturday evening.

Juan Uribe’s tiebreaking homer run off Ryan Madson with two outs in the eighth inning resulted in the big win.

"We had such a diversity of contributions from everybody," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "Not bad for a bunch of castoffs and misfits."

Texas managed to finish off the early favorites to win the 2010 World Series, the New York Yankees with a 6-1 final score.

The Yankees were outscored by 19 runs in the 2010 ALCS. That is the second-worst run differential they have ever had in a single postseason series.

"The World Series is coming to Texas," said Michael Young, the longest-tenured Ranger in his 10th season. "These fans have waited longer than we have. I know how bad we wanted it, and they must have wanted it more."
