Nearly two weeks into the 2026 MLB season and the main topic of conversation remains the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) system.
Consistent comments about game improvement, instant entertainment, umpire embarrassment and “fire CB Bucknor!” abound.

The most overturned calls we’ve seen so far in a single game is 7. The oddsmakers have set the over/under for the highest overturned calls all season at 8.5.
The first week of ABS saw a little more than 50 percent of the challenges successful. The oddsmakers must think that the hitters/catchers are going to get better as the season-long success rate is set at 60 percent.
